Measure the usable spindle

Remove the existing roll and measure the usable spindle length. Measure from spindle center to the nearest wall or shelf; twice that clearance gives a rough maximum roll diameter, with extra room needed so the paper can turn freely.

Check the whole enclosure

Check whether the holder can flex or whether its ends protrude into the roll. A nominally narrow roll can still bind against a recessed enclosure. Keep the old working roll dimensions in a phone note for in-store checks.

Keep a working-size note

If the new roll rubs, avoid forcing it into the mechanism. Use another compatible holder or select a smaller roll. A marketing equivalence number does not tell you physical fit.

Before you decide

  • Measure width, diameter and core.
  • Leave turning clearance against the wall.
  • Do not force a rubbing roll onto the holder.
